About

A workshop, not a warehouse

Designing and building furniture by hand in Osogbo, Osun State, since 2016.

Ax3 Luxury Furniture began in 2016 with four people, a rented workshop off the Gbongan road and a conviction that furniture built here could stand beside anything imported. We are now twenty-six: joiners, upholsterers, a finisher who has been doing it for thirty years, and a survey team that measures your room before we cut anything. Everything we sell, we made. We do not import containers and re-badge them. That is the whole business model, and it is why our lead times are measured in weeks rather than days. A frame has to be glued and left. A finish has to cure. There is no version of this that is fast, and there is no version worth having that skips those steps.

What we will not do

A short list of things we turn down

Bonded leather

It is not leather. It peels within a few years and there is no repairing it. We will not upholster in it at any price.

Two-week turnarounds

Glue and finish need time to cure. Anyone promising a full suite in ten days is skipping one of those, and you will find out which in year two.

Imported and re-badged

We do not buy containers and put our name on them. Every piece leaving here was cut, joined and upholstered here.

Particle-board frames

It swells the first time it meets humidity and it never recovers. Our frames are kiln-dried hardwood, without exception.

Quoting before measuring

A price given without seeing the room is a guess that gets corrected upward later. We survey first.

Photographs of other people's work

Everything shown on this site is ours. If we have not built it yet, we will tell you it is a drawing.

Materials

What we build with, and why

Iroko

Grown here, naturally oily, resists moisture movement and insects. Our first choice for large unbroken tops because it stays flat.

African mahogany

Finer grain, takes a polish iroko cannot match. Used where the finish is doing the talking — bed bases, drawer fronts.

Full-grain leather

The only leather we upholster in. Ages into a patina rather than wearing out. Conditioned twice a year, it outlasts the frame.

Performance weaves

Tight, wipeable, colourfast. The right answer for a family sitting room where velvet would be a dust trap.
